Welcome to America, Pope Francis! 9/24/15

In honor of Pope Francis’ visit to the United States, we would like to share with you prayers written by our 7th graders. In class they learned about spontaneous prayer from St. Paul’s letter to Philemon. This book of the Bible lays out the format to spontaneous prayer. The students have been practicing this form of prayer, and as an assignment were to create their own in honor of the Pope. We will share one prayer each day of the Pope’s visit.

Pope Francis

Today’s prayer is from Blaise Sordia.
“Oh God of Mercy,
We thank you for this precious life that you gave us. Make sure that Pope Francis has a safe trip on his way to the U.S.A. I ask that You always live in our hearts and that Pope Francis’ teachings lead us on the path to holiness. Thank you for sending us Pope Francis to teach us more about our mission as Catholics to choose a life of love. It is important that I learn this now so that when I grow up and have a family of my own, I can teach my children to be one with You. May we be blessed by You, Almighty Father, forever and ever.
