What SSJ Has Meant to Me – Sara Tellez, SSJ Class of 2006

Tellez, Sara

Ms. Sara Tellez, 06

I attended Ss. Simon and Jude School for nine wonderful years (K-8). In those years, I learned what it truly means to be a  well-rounded, reflective, and active Catholic. SSJ provided many opportunities for students and families to get involved with the school and larger community. While at school, I participated in numerous service opportunities that benefited the people in our community. It was in these moments I learned what it meant to be Catholic. Catholic means universal, and that is exactly what the SSJ community is. We are one family. After graduation, I went on to high school and later college where I was blessed to expand on the values and lessons I learned at a young age at SSJ. For example, at SSJ, I loved volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and Andre House. I met many great people who taught me that God is all around me in every person I meet. These opportunities made me reflect on my own life, and find a way to serve our global community. I thank SSJ and its teachers, Loreto Sisters, priests, and staff for instilling a love for serving others within me!
