SS. Simon & Jude Catholic School

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Mrs. Justine Keebler has been a physical education teacher and coach at SSJ

since 2001. She is also currently the Girls’ Athletic Director. During the summer

of 2010, she and Coach Bob attended a convention in California to learn a new PE

curriculum (SPARK). She says, “I am extremely excited to use the new gym for

PE and know that the SPARK curriculum is a great way to celebrate our new

facility. After one week in the gym, my favorite quote was from a first grader:

‘Coach, I’m not sweating!’ After many 100+ degree weeks outside, we cannot

express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the Phase I Development

Project. I feel blessed to be part of the SS. Simon and Jude community and

                                                   enjoy coming to work everyday.”

Mr. Bob Mangan has been a physical education teacher and coach at SSJ since

1992. He is also the Boys’ Athletic Director. Coach Bob says, “I love

Ss. Simon and Jude because of the Loreto Sisters and the community as a

whole. One of my favorite jobs is coaching because I get the opportunity to

spend time with the athletes and learn more about their lives.”

According to Coach Keebler and Coach Bob: “It is our hope

that students in our classes will develop a general

knowledge and skill of sports, as well as a love for activity.

In addition to physical activity, we also work on building

sportsmanship and problem-solving skills. We hope each

student leaves SSJ with at least one activity, recreational

or organized, that he/she will continue throughout their

teen years in order to keep a healthy body and lifestyle.”
