SS. Simon & Jude Catholic School

FIRST GRADE

Mrs. Mary Anne Manos has been teaching first grade at SSJ since 1992. All

four of her children graduated from SSJ, and she believes it is the wonderful

community here that helped mold them into the young adults they are today. She

says simply that “SSJ is an amazing school. I am proud to be a teacher here,

helping create the young adults of tomorrow. Although first graders spend a lot

of time reading and writing, my students and I make religion a part of everything

we do every day. I teach children about their faith and how it will affect them in

every decision they will make. I believe faith is an important aspect of their

lives and should be integrated into all subject areas. The SSJ community is

strong and supportive. We all work together to raise responsible, self-disciplined,

and loving children. I am extremely proud to be a teacher here at SSJ.”

Mrs. Sally Estfan began teaching 1st Grade at SSJ in 2010. She says, “I am

attracted to the ministry of teaching because I enjoy helping and serving

people. I particularly enjoy working with children. For me, teaching is an act

of serving young people and their families. I want to teach in order to make

a difference in our world. I have been part of the SSJ community for

several years as a parishoner. My husband and I were married at SSJ. Our

children were baptized, attended Sunday School, and currently attend

elementary school here. Prior to teaching first grade, I first served as a

volunteer in different capacities and then as a teacher’s aide for four years.

          I love this community.”
